The use of Demand Controllers in the installations served by electric energy supply contracts by the concessionary is a way to guarantee that the system does not exceed the contractual limits, resulting in the application of fines. Small consumers are charged only for the energy used (consumption). Medium and large consumers pay for both the energy and the power made available.
The power appears in the bills of these consumers under the name of demand, which, in fact, corresponds to the average power verified in 15-minute intervals. The National Electrical Energy Agency (ANEEL) is the one that regulates and establishes these parameters in electric energy bills.

Power factor control
Did you know that the problem of low power factor in the electrical installation – which can generate fines from the energy concessionary – can be solved with the installation of power factor controllers?
Look at your electric bill. If it shows excess reactive consumption, this is a sign that there is a problem with the power factor. The further this consumption deviates from the legal value, the higher the fine imposed by the energy provider.
This is where power factor controllers come in, to help you correct this flaw in the electrical installation. Before presenting the types of power factor controllers, it is necessary to understand what power factor is.
Power factor (PF) is a measure of how much of the electrical power consumed is being converted into useful work. The minimum allowed power factor on the energy bill, according to the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL), is 0.92. If the value is below this, the utility can charge a fine, as mentioned above.
The main causes of low power factor are discharge lamps (fluorescent, mercury vapor, sodium vapor, and metal vapor) with low power factor reactors (without capacitor), transformers at no load or low load, and induction motors (motors most commonly used in industry).

Electricity meters are present in everyday life in factories, homes, and commercial establishments, but do you know how they work and which model of energy meter suits your needs?
The energy meter is an instrument that measures some electrical parameters and seeks to solve the problems of apportionment of energy, which is supplied by the concessionaire and then distributed to consumers – whether, for example, in condominiums, residences, shopping centers, hospitals, hotels, and clinics.
These devices are used to measure voltage, power, and current from the power grid. One of the most used functions is the measurement of consumption, that is, of accumulated power over a given period – which will usually vary between 27 and 33 days. Then, from what is measured, the meter makes a calculation, considering the time of use and the accumulated power, and translates this consumption into kilowatt-hours (kWH), which is the value registered in the popular “light bill” (electric energy bill).
Another interesting and useful function for users is the possibility to plot a graph in relation to voltage and current, which helps in understanding the behavior of these two parameters recorded over a demarcated period. With this, it is easy to verify the moments in which there was a voltage drop or peaks in energy consumption.
Remote units for electric rearmers
Remote telemetry units are telemetry panels equipped with microprocessor electronics that interface with a SCADA system, transmitting telemetry data to the master station and changing the state of the switch connected to the power grid, based on control messages received from the central station or commands generated by the RTU (remote telemetry unit). The RTU provides data to the central station and allows it to issue controls to the field equipment. Typical RTUs have physical hardware inputs for interfacing with field equipment and one or more communication ports.
